This is a small series of several folders which deal with ways to accomplish the goals of the Bicentennial Commission. These records are primarily concerned with plans for establishing statewide committees to accomplish specific aspects of the Bicentennial celebration (i.e. graphic arts, drama and pageantry, historical window display committee).

This series contains suggestions from the Executive Committee and other interested parties, the announcement of meetings, resignations and appointments of the executive committee of the Bicentennial Commission. The correspondence is filed under: (1) the name of the member of the Executive Committee to whom it was written, and (2) the name of a person with whom the committee members found it necessary to correspond regularly.

This series contains material relating to various projects, pageants, and celebrations which were attempted to accomplish the goals of the Bicentennial Commission. Examples of some activities described in this series are: (1) Georgia History Work, (2) Patrons Committee Plaque Project, (3) school programs, (4) Maritime Day Project, and (5) meeting of the 13 Original States.

This series contains statements in response to inquiries for information on various phases of the Georgia Bicentennial Commission's work, press releases issued from the Executive Director (A.R. Rogers) about specific activities, publications stating the purpose of the Commission and information pertinent to education about the state of Georgia, and miscellaneous correspondence relating to specific publicity plans.

These records are concerned with the functions of informing the Governor of the appointment or election of county officials, commissioning these officials, making certain that the officials are properly bonded and resignations of these officials.

This series consists of lists furnished the Governor's office by the various county ordinaries of the county officers not included in the regular list of county officers elected. All offices are included either arranged on an individual county form or a state‑wide sheet. In the latter case, when changes in offices were made, the old names were struck out and the new typed in. Not all counties are represented for all offices.

The governor of the state was empowered by the Georgia Constitution of 1789 to grant commissions to military and civil officers. These commissions were filed in the Office of the Secretary of State. This series includes: 1) name of person commissioned and for what office; 2) date of commission; 3) when qualified, and 4) remarks.

This series consists of volumes recording the official oaths to appointed executive officials and elected state officials. Each oath includes the official's name, office, effective date of appointment, term of office and the signatures of the official and the Governor.

Many of the publications in this series are closely related to and preceded those to be found in RG 93, Office of Planning and Budget. Included are budget reports and miscellaneous publications dealing with budgetary and accounting subjects.
